After graduating from Los Alamitos High School in Orange County in 1998, Chris Missick packed his bags and headed to Sacramento to attend California State University Sacramento, and to take an active role in state government. Immediately becoming active in the school and the community, Chris joined the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, and began interning with a statewide political consulting firm. Spending his first two years of college active in his fraternity and in campus politics, he earned the respect of his brothers and his fellow students and ultimately was rewarded with several leadership positions. A sweeping victory in the student government elections placed Chris in direct communication with the university administration in his term as Vice President of University Affairs. His term was spent advocating for student needs and articulating a vision for a more unified student body. It was in the waning months of 1999 however, that Chris received one of his best opportunities. Being asked to serve as Director for Youth Outreach for Northern California in the Bush for President campaign, Chris found himself right in the middle of a major national presidential campaign. His hard work paid off, and in early June of 2000, was promoted to Deputy Director for the Northern California campaign effort. Attending the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia, Chris was instilled with the greatest sense of pride in his nation, and yet humbled with an even deeper need for service to America. In the aftermath of that tumultuous election in January 2001, Chris decided that he would take a semester leave the following fall term from school, and join the US Army as a reservist. He shipped out May 31, 2001, and began the experience of a lifetime. Quite obviously, the following months would change both Chris and the country, as the nation experienced one of the most horrific events in history. Returning from active military service in December of 2001, and beginning his remaining 5-year reservist commitment, Chris was intent on finishing school and preparing for his next stage in education. Above anything else however, the tragic events of 9-11 forged a commitment to his country and his community. September 11 inspired many people to do not just good things, but to begin remarkable endeavors. Thus, with a renewed commitment to America, he filed the papers and ran for this very office on the Sacramento Central Committe. Currently, Chris has finished his tenure at CSU Sacramento and has achieved his BA in Government. He has begun an exciting business venture with his father and the Curb-O-Let Corporation. Working with the marketing and government relations of the business, Chris spends his time introducing the product to cities, developers and plumbing supply houses across the country, while also managing the technology end of the business. Additionally, he is slated to take his LSAT (law School Admission test) this fall and begin Law School in the coming year. He hopes to acquire a knowledge of the law that will generate success in life and foster his dedication to our community and his ambition to better the lives of his fellow Californian's. |
